About the PTA

The BWI Parents’ Association

The Parents’ Association is a charity run by a small group of BWI parents. We provide social events and fundraisers for pupils and their families while raising much needed funds for the school.

Our biggest events each year are fireworks night and our summer event which is open to all of the community. The Christmas fair is a day just for the the pupils which they all love as they meet Santa and get into the festive spirit. We also hold 2 school discos plus a Mother’s and Father’s day stall. Race night is a great family night out for all the family to come along to and enjoy (and hopefully be a winner!). We also have a clothes collection unit in the school car park for unwanted clothing which raises funds for the school. Plus smarties challenge and Penny War - which the pupils thoroughly enjoy!

How is the money spent?

The PA raise around £15,000 per year. We have installed sixteen interactive whiteboards and projectors to classrooms and one to the hall. This is an on-going project, as the boards and projectors need replacing when they become old and worn out.

We have also raised money to pay for the front and back playground climbing frames, the Outdoor Learning Area, Table Tennis Court, the playground markings in both playgrounds, the coloured fences, classroom furniture, the picnic tables and the newly formed leavers wall. We recently refurbished the school library and replaced the flooring in the reception class. We are now working towards the KS1 outdoor learning area.

The PA also pays annually for services the school needs. Previously paying for Mathletics and each year financing the Christingles and Christmas crackers for the pupils Christmas dinner, plus the Christmas pantomime/ performance.

The funds which are raised in our events, provide much needed resources to benefit our children, basically whatever the school needs, we fund if we can!  We are very grateful to all parents, family, friends and staff who come along to support our school throughout the year.

What can parents do to help?
The events each year rely heavily on donations and your support. Without your generosity we cannot go ahead and raise money for the school or put on the events that the kids enjoy. We are always looking for help to run the events as there are only a few of us who are also working so cannot always be around.

We are always looking for any sponsors and donations. Parents can help by asking their employers about this. It may be that your company offer a £ for £ scheme like Barclays or have a community cash scheme available. It is amazing what you can get IF you ask! You might also be able to acquire raffle prizes or items to be auctioned from local businesses you know or contacts that you have. Not all parents are able to attend or help at events so this is another way to do your bit for our school. Please contact us via email bwipa@bwi.org.uk

You can join our school lottery and win money for yourself while supporting the school. Each week there is a chance to win the £25000 jackpot and there are other prizes to be won. Please go to www.yourschoollottery.co.uk and search for BWI to get your tickets and support the school.

You can also earn free money from easyfundraising go to their website https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk and support Bishop Winnington Ingram School and shop via their site to earn free money.

Thank you

We would like to thank all the parents who have supported our events and a big thanks to our main sponsor, Gibson Honey.
