School Council meet MP at Houses of Parliament

Year 5 question Councillor Corthorne on today's big issues!

Children in year 5 had the chance today (March 16th) to question Councillor Philip Corthorne on a range of local and national issues. Questions ranged from local issues such as parking at school and upkeep of local green spaces to bigger national issues such as the war in Ukraine and the rising cost of living. The children asked their questions thoughtfully and Councillor Corthorne gave some great answers. He was also keen to come into school and have a walk to look at some of the local green spaces with the children to see what needs to be done!

School Council - Idling vehicles social action

All our children in year 5 and 6 took part in vehicle idling workshops on Friday 11th March. At the end of the day, our head boy and girl and school council members took to the streets in the pouring rain to encourage idling vehicles to switch off their engines. The children were very confident approaching the cars and got several members of the public to switch their engines off!
