Science Museum trip - January 2020
On 15th January 2020 the children in Year 5 visited the Science Museum in London. Here is a recount of their trip:
"Yesterday, we went to the Science Museum (which everyone enjoyed) to discover brand new facts about Space. We went to the Science Museum because Space is our class topic this term. Our focus was to find answers to questions on a sheet. We learnt so much, like, Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space; the first man to walk on the moon was Neil Armstrong; and that the Solar System began as a vast cloud of dust and gas!
After this we had lunch and then we went to the IMAX cinema. To be honest I thought it was just a cinema, but I was very impressed when we saw the 3D film through our cinema glasses! We learnt lots more facts. Did you know that there are more than 100 billion galaxies in the known universe; that the Andromeda Galaxy is often referred to as M31; that the largest known galaxy is called IC 1101 and it is about 5 million light years across? We also learnt that Earth is made primarily of iron and oxygen and thick layers of rock, and we discovered what a spaceship looks like on the inside.
I really enjoyed the Science Museum because I learnt so much. I would really like to go back to the Science Museum!"
