Our Vision and Values

Our vision, values and worship are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

Our vision is:

'My Cup Overflows' Psalm 23:5

A community that gives each child an outstanding spiritual, academic and practical education and instils an awareness of the overflowing joy, love and peace that comes from God’s love for us, so that they are able to achieve their potential and truly experience ‘life in all its fulness’ (John 10:10).

We are believers that when you feel the overflowing joy, love and peace that comes from God’s love, that that love flows out into others and the environment around you. Your mind set becomes clear, focused and you are able to make decisions that benefit everyone around you. We believe that when your ‘cup’ is full and overflowing with love that it is a continuous cycle. That love will overflow out of the cup and run through the trees, flowers and rivers back up into the sky again, to be poured down by God to reach someone new.

This is how BWI will grow its community, by catching God’s joy, love and peace. When our cup is overflowing, it will pour out into the local community, connecting us all together to give each child an outstanding spiritual, academic and practical education.

Our vision and ethos is supported by the Psalm 23:5

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Children's work on our vision

Living out our vision in school and in the community

Pastor Ruth from Hope Community Hillingdon came in to lead a fantastic collective worship all about the true meaning of Christmas. In addition to this, her church gave a wonderful demonstration of our vision - ‘My cup overflows’ Psalm 23:5 - as they provided a free copy of the Nativity Story for every child in school!

Staff and children at BWI had very tired legs after helping the local Round Table association raise money for the charities they support. Our cup truly overflowed and we loved spreading Christmas cheer through the local community and helping to raise money for those less fortunate than us.

Raising money for the Royal British Legion

We were very proud to raise almost £450 for the Poppy Appeal. The selling of the poppies was led by our year 6 children who set-up a table in the front and back playground each day.

BWI School aims to:

  • be a Christian community where everyone can grow in Christian faith and develop an understanding and tolerance of others
  • help each individual develop self-awareness, self-discipline and a positive attitude to life and work
  • develop a sensitivity to the needs of others, valuing and respecting individuals and the whole community
  • create a happy, organised and stimulating working environment so that children are enabled to fulfil their own potential and acquire skills and knowledge to prepare them for the wider world
  • foster in children an excitement for God's world and an awareness of their place in it.

BWI School Ethos and Christian Character

  • Distinctively Christian values are made explicit and are deeply embedded in the daily life of our school, having a significant impact on the daily lives and achievements of our children.
  • Our school’s Christian character has a high profile, seen through our approach to issues of attendance and pupil exclusion for all groups of children.
  • There is a highly developed interpretation of spirituality shared across our school community. Children have regular opportunities to engage in high quality experiences that develop a personal spirituality. They are passionate and confident to express their thoughts and views in considerable depth through a rich variety of styles and media.
  • The Christian character and values of our school have a significant impact on the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all children.
  • The behaviour of our children is of a high standard and relationships between all members of the school community are consistently attributed to the Christian character and values of the school.
  • Children are fully aware that Christianity is a multi-cultural world faith. They have a high degree of understanding and respect for diversity and difference both within the church and in other faith communities.
  • Children are excited and challenged by religious education. It makes a significant contribution to their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and plays a major role in determining the Christian character of the school.

Our six school values of Compassion, Endurance, Humility, Peace, Thankfulness and Trust, chosen by the staff, governors and children, reflect the aspirations we have for each child, to inspire a high level of spiritual and moral reflection and to challenge our learners to take responsibility for their own actions.
