Safeguarding

Bishop Winnington Ingram Church of England School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, students and volunteers to share this commitment. It is the duty of care for the school to make sure all our children feel safe and happy and is underpinned through our vision and values.

All staff are trained in safeguarding when they join the school and this training is updated annually or sooner if necessary. The training ensures staff are aware of the signs to look out for if a child may be being harmed/abused. It also informs them how to deal with the situation and report it appropriately. Similarly, children are reminded that they can share information with staff who will always be there to listen and support them.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website and is attached below.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We endeavour to discuss our concerns about our pupils with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move may have an impact on the children in our care. We work closely with Hillingdon Children’s Services and take guidance from them.

We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism and all stakeholders have received training in this as well.

We have a Safeguarding team, which includes. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mrs C Rodenas. The Deputy Safeguarding Leads are as above. The governor responsible for Safeguarding is Mrs Holly Kearns.

All adults in school have to wear lanyards

If any parent or carer has concerns about the safety of a child, we encouraged you to discuss your concern with one of the above named adults.

They can also contact Children’s Services anonymously on 01895 556644.
